About the Title

"Nine on a Diamond" harkens back to the early days of baseball when the fielding team would leave their gloves on the field when it was their turn at bat, put out a runner by hitting him with a thrown ball and every batted ball was fair and playing for the love of the game.

Combining the yesteryear mental attitude of playing baseball with knowledge of fundamentals and today's "Rules of the Game" is what this book tries to achieve.  Above all, the game has to be fun.  The author says: "Baseball is passion.  Every time I step on to the field, I can smell the dirt which has just been watered down.  I smell my leather glove and I get tingles up my body because I could smell the game of baseball. After all that I am ready to play. You need to find something that makes you tingle."

Play evolves from unstructured games with no rules, to highly structured games with many rules. But the essence of play remains, fun through the joy of movement and the camaraderie of others.

This book offers a bit of guidance in quickening the pace of learning to play baseball.

When he was 14 he was encouraged to record a journal about his love of sports. Nine on a Diamond is the result.  MMPublishing is very proud of how hard he worked to achieve this goal (in his writing, in striving to be the best at baseball camps and in learning from the professionals.)
