Art is Elementary

by Sara Shuttleworth Anderson
Children are pleased to discover that Art has rules, the basic Elements of Design.
Art is Elementary dramatizes how visual learning empowers elementary education.

Are the arts essential to a good start in school? Here is a true to life book that tells how well young students respond to the essentials of Visual Arts. At every grade level you can almost hear their voices, "Give us art."  I every chapter you feel and electric energy of how art teaches.
The author, Sara Shuttleworth Anderson, has followed her professional career as an elementary art specialist and tells her students' amazing stories as promised. Fascinated by studies of "educating the whole child" at Mills College, Sara chose her calling, Art for Children. She earned two B.A. degrees, Primary and Elementary Education at Mills College and Fine Arts fro California State, Northridge. During her long career of providing children's art programs she is concerned about the emphasis on technology without the balance of Fine Arts Education.
Enjoy every chapter tat pictures the beginnings of Visual Arts in each age group, K-6th.  Teachers, thrill to find that you can weave Visual Arts into your curriculum.  Parents, realize that art lessons can be cost effective.  Artists, see how well young students adapt to contemporary techniques.  Everyone share the triumphs of whole classrooms absorbing art together.  Now you can shout along with our children, "Give us what we need: Art!"
